La mer à Fort-de-l'eau / Le Caillou / L'Arrêt

In 2016, the Cnap acquired three photographs from the artist's “Hinterland” series: “Le Caillou”, “La Chaîne” and “La Mer à Fort-de-l'Eau” . “The hinterland” is the silent space, contingent on the material conditions of the environment, the nature of the soil, the quality of construction materials, the level of development of collective infrastructure. This is the dark side of the urban landscape photographed at night. In this series, through his perspective of bright areas with dark areas, Karim Kal questions the capacity of the photographic medium to represent the visible.
